O'Connor savages anti-judicial wingnuttery

Over at The Agonist, links to Nina Totenberg's NPR segment on Sandra Day O'Connor's Georgetown talk.

Newly retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor took on conservative Republican critics of the courts in a speech Thursday. She told an audience at Georgetown University that Republican proposals, and their sometimes uncivil tone, pose a danger to the independence of the judiciary, and the freedoms of all Americans.

From such bullying of the judiciary, O'Connor abstracts the threat of "dictatorship."

I wasn't a big fan of Connor's nomination, but she proved me wrong and was one of the best Supreme Court judges we've ever had.

Compared to the mental and ideological midgets that have come since, she'll stand as a giant in the Court's history.
